Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how whereismyai ("whereismyai", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App.

THE SHORT VERSION

There is no whereismyai server, and there is no whereismyai account.

We do not operate a backend, we do not receive your data, and we could not retrieve your conversations even if you asked us to.

Everything the App stores stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

whereismyai is designed around local, on-device AI.

When you use a downloaded model for local inference, your prompts, model responses, and images used for vision inference are processed on your device.

Your local AI conversations are not sent to a cloud AI service.

After a model has been downloaded, the core AI experience can operate without a network connection.

INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE

The App may store the following information locally on your device:

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

None.

We do not collect, receive, store, or process any personal information on any server, because we do not operate one.

The App has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no tracking software development kits, and no user accounts.

AI PROMPTS AND RESPONSES

When using a locally downloaded model, prompts and responses are processed by the model running on your device.

Your prompts, responses, and conversation history are not transmitted to a remote AI inference service.

Because processing occurs locally, your conversations remain on your device.

CAMERA AND PHOTO LIBRARY

Supported vision features can use an image that you choose from your photo library or capture with your camera.

On iOS, the App requests photo library access and camera access only at the point you choose to attach or capture an image, and you can decline.

The App does not access your photo library or camera in the background, and it does not scan, index, or upload your photo library.

IMAGES AND VISION FEATURES

If you select or capture an image for a supported vision model, the image is copied into the App's local storage so it can be used by the local model and remain available to the relevant conversation.

Images used for local inference are processed on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.

You should still avoid storing or processing highly sensitive images unless you understand the risks associated with storing that information on your device.

MODEL DOWNLOADS AND HUGGING FACE

whereismyai can search for and download supported models from Hugging Face.

Hugging Face is the only external service the App contacts. Apart from model search and model downloads, the App does not send network requests to any server, ours or anyone else's.

When you search for or download a model, your device communicates directly with Hugging Face. We are not involved in and cannot see that request.

Hugging Face acts as an independent data controller for that communication and may receive technical information such as your IP address, the request details, and standard connection metadata, as described in its own privacy policy.

We do not control the privacy practices of Hugging Face or any other third-party service.

You should review the privacy policy and terms of any third-party service you use through the App.

If you never download a model, the App does not need the network at all.

NETWORK USE

The App may use the network for:

Local model inference does not require a network connection after the required model and resources have been downloaded.

ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING

The App contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking.

We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

If a future version introduces analytics, crash reporting, advertising, accounts, or any other data collection, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe it before that version ships.

ACCOUNTS

The App does not have accounts and does not require you to create one.

Your conversations and local application data belong to the installation on your device.

DATA SHARING

We do not share your conversations, prompts, model responses, or images with anyone, because we never receive them.

Hugging Face receives network information when you directly use model search or downloads, as described above.

DATA RETENTION

Locally stored conversations, images, settings, and downloaded models remain on your device until you delete them, remove them through the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.

Because we hold no copy of your data, uninstalling the App and clearing its data removes it.

We do not maintain any database of your conversations.

YOUR RIGHTS

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data that a company holds about you.

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, export, or delete, and no request is necessary.

Your data is already entirely under your own control on your own device.

For data that Hugging Face may hold as a result of your model searches and downloads, contact Hugging Face directly.

DEVICE BACKUPS

Backup behaviour differs by platform, and it is worth understanding.

On Android, automatic backup is disabled for this App. Its data is not included in Android's cloud backup.

On iOS, the App's data is stored in the application's Documents directory, which is included in device and iCloud backups. This means conversations, attached images, and downloaded model files may be copied into your iCloud or local device backup.

Downloaded models can be several gigabytes, so they can take up significant backup space. You can delete models through the App to reduce this.

Backups are controlled by your operating system and your own backup settings, not by us.

SECURITY

We take a local-first approach to privacy, but no software or device can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Data stored by the App is protected by your device's own security and encryption. The App does not add a separate passcode or encryption layer of its own.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for using appropriate device security measures such as a passcode, biometric authentication, encryption, and operating-system security updates.

AGE

The App is not directed to children.

You should be at least 13 years old to use the App, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for using online services.

AI models can produce unfiltered, inaccurate, or age-inappropriate content, and the App does not filter model output. Parents and guardians should supervise use by minors.

THIRD-PARTY MODELS

AI models available through the App are created and distributed by independent third parties.

A model may have its own behaviour, data requirements, license, or privacy implications.

A model runs as code and data on your device. You are responsible for reviewing the terms and documentation of any model you choose to download, and for deciding whether you trust its publisher.

OPEN SOURCE

whereismyai is open-source software released under the Apache License 2.0.

You are welcome to read the source code to verify the claims in this policy rather than take them on trust.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements change.

The latest version will be made available with the App and in the project's public source repository.
